Thinkpad Drama Gets More Dramatic

After all the IBM Thinkpad drama I have been going through, trying to return my laptop that doesn't even work, I just got the following email from Lenovo support.

"In regards to your recent return request pertaining to order #******, our returns team has researched the situtation and at this time has denied a return for your Lenovo 6459CTO THINKPAD T61 WIDESCREEN as this request did not meet the criteria listed in the terms and conditions of the Lenovo Return policy agreed upon at the time of purchase. Furthermore, they have suggested to continue to work with technical support to make a physical attempt to repair any issues. If our Technical team proves to be unsuccessful than another request can be submitted."

The "criteria listed in the terms and conditions of the Lenovo Return policy" is the 21-day rule that says I have to return the laptop within 21 days of shipping or I have to pay a restocking fee. It spent nearly a week in transit as it made its way all the way from CHINA. I called them to return it within 18 days of receiving it, but 23 days of the time they shipped it.

They still don't understand. I DON'T WANT THIS COMPUTER! It's broken, and I refuse to work with their god-forsaken technical support to spend the next 2 months sending the computer back and forth never getting it fixed. I have read many posts from users who have sent their laptops in to get them fixed only to get them back in the same shape they sent them off in - broken. I just bought this laptop, I am unsatisfied with the product and I wish to return it. It's that simple. I'm pissed. They will be receiving a colorful call from me tomorrow morning.

P.S. I am currently using my Gateway Laptop that I brought up here planing on selling for $400. It works beautifully. I am sad that I would have sold it so cheaply. It's been a great replacement/backup for the Lenovo even though its hardware is half as powerful. I have purchased from Gateway since 2000 and they have never let me down. Oh, Gateway. Why have I forsaken thee?
