New Friends Are Coming From Chile

I hardly ever use the word “sucks” as an adjective in my vernacular, but being this busy sucks. I mean, REALLY sucks. My schedule is so full right now, that I have stuff overlapping on Wednesday nights. Boo, I say. I spent a few minutes last night updating some of the navigation of my site. You will notice if you click on the logo at the top, it will take you back to the front page (thanks for pointing that out William.) Also, at the bottom I have links to the archived and search pages plus a link to the RSS feed.

I am thinking of starting a Spanish blog on this site. I would only update it ever so often, but it would be cool for my buddies in Guatemala to be able to read some of my “life updates.” My Spanish would be broken, but it would be good practice since I am most comfortable speaking in Spanish, but not writing in Spanish. I do better on my German exams than I do on my Spanish exams and I can barely utter more than simple phrases in German.

I have been meeting with Pastor Toro (from Chile) quite a bit lately. When we get together, he tries to keep most of the conversation in Spanish so that I can practice and it really helps. If you don’t know who Pastor Toro is, he is going to pastor the new Hispanic church that Immanuel is helping get started. Right now he is here with his wife, Palusa and youngest son, Nico. His other son and daughter are coming in tomorrow! His oldest son is Claudio. He is 18 years old, but in American terms that means he is 24. His daughter is Macarena (like the song) and is 16 years old. I can’t wait for them to get here. I hope Pastor Toro doesn’t get mad when I constantly steal his son from him to hang out with us.

This is my Spring Break!! But it doesn’t feel like it at ALL. :( My parents are in Arizona with the rest of my immediate family seeing all the great AZ folk, in addition to my little 4-month-old nephew whom I have never seen. Boo! I have to stay here and work a full-time week at eLink. I think Memaw and I are planning a trip out to AZ to see everybody this summer.

Since everyone is gone, I am left to care for the dogs. They are crazy. I thought once I moved out, (I’ll talk about still living with the parents later,) I would want to get a dog. I don’t think I will. They poop and pee all over everything! Tonight, I let them out to run around outside and then brought them inside to play as I ate dinner upstairs. They ran around the house and went downstairs for a while. I didn’t smell any poop, so I was ok with them being down there unattended. After a while they both came upstairs just in time for me to be ready to leave again.

Since I had to leave, I needed to get the dogs into their crates, so I went down stairs and tried to get the dogs to follow me; but they refused. I tried to coax the dogs downstairs with a big bowl of water (don’t ask my why I didn’t try using a doggie treat instead) but they knew they would be going into their crates if they came down so they stayed at the top of the stairs looking down at me. I knew that if I plopped down into the couch, they would think I was staying down there for a while so I plopped down into the white leather couch. Believe it or not, it worked. As soon as I plopped down, Aslan came sprinting down the stairs and then sprinted at me with full speed. I guess normal dogs slow down before jumping up on the couch and onto their masters, but Aslan is “special.” He rammed me with his entire body weight. It hurt! I immediately smelled a strong scent of urine. I pushed Aslan off of me and onto the floor when I noticed something seeping through my clothing where I was sitting. I got up and turned to see a huge urine mess that one of the dogs left on the couch for me to sit in.

OH! I am going to Germany this summer!!! More info to come.

I'm so sorry Sam. I'm assuming Aslan is the villian in the story, since Edmund can't jump on the couch. Fact: Dogs are like children. You can bet they are doing something they shouldn't if it gets quiet.
