Porn and Pancakes

I went to Porn and Pancakes this morning with my new Canon XL2 in hopes of catching a progressive church with a radical mission in the midst of them living out their mission statement. In case you haven't heard of said church, it's XXXChurch, "#1 Christian Porn Site" (it's not really a porn site if you are wondering). Instead of slapping a mission statement on a church wall and systematically repeating the statement each week as a congregation, XXXChurch lives their objective by placing their statement in their feet - not their mouths. That scares some churches and Christians.

Craig Gross, pastor of XXXChurch confronts the ugly and powerful hand of pornography in the face. Craig even sets up booths at porn expo's and hands out Bibles entitled "Jesus Loves Porn Stars". Take a look at this video of how some have reacted to the progressively entitled Bible. I purchased four of the Bibles today, so let me know if you want to see one.

Crossroads Christian Church hosted Porn and Pancakes this morning and received some flak about it from surrounding churches and religious leaders. I think it's awesome that that church is not afraid to step up and point at a big fat elephant in the room. Some have asked Crossroads "Why?" but I believe the correct question is "Why not?"

On a different note, I have been inspired to get the blog back up and running again. Hopefully it will be like the "good-ole days" when Frith, D-well, David and I all updated our blogs on a regular basis. Nowadays, with FaceBook and other social-networking sites, having a unique internet presence has seemed to loose a little bit of its value. Blogging will surely die out eventually, but I'd love to be in the habit of journaling my life.
